To our valued patients and families,
Thank you so much for your patience over the past five months as we navigated our way through the reopening of our offices. There is no doubt we have been fortunate in the Okanagan to have kept our COVID numbers relatively low up to this point. However, this is no longer true with a recent local surge in cases, including a small outbreak in a Mission-area school that lead to its temporary closure.
Despite our offices following all of the recommendations set out by our Provincial Health Officer, our Dental regulatory body, and the Center of Disease Control, this uptick in new local cases has proven to be another wake up call for us. Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to keep you and your families safe during this time, and we urge you to help us out and do your part as well.
Listed below are the detailed instructions we have in place to prevent the spread of COVID and help keep our doors open. Please read carefully.
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE AT OUR OFFICE:
A) Bring a mask or face covering with you. They are now mandatory for all people entering our office and building.
B) Brush and floss your teeth thoroughly before arrival as our brushing stations are temporarily closed.
C) Use the washroom at home/work. Usage of our patient washroom will be minimized, but will be allowed if absolutely necessary.
D) In order to minimize the number of people present in our office and allow for adequate social distancing, we ask that only patients attend the appointment. Children under 10 may be escorted by one parent/guardian. Siblings will not be permitted in the office at this time. If this policy concerns you, please let us know and we can discuss other options.
E) Self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms before you leave. Please review the following screen questions:
1) In the last 7 days, have you experienced any of the following symptoms: Fever over 37.5 C (99.5 F), cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, sneezing, post-nasal drip (coryza), loss of smell (anosmia)?
2) In the last 14 days, have you travelled outside of Canada?
3) Are you waiting for the results of a laboratory test for COVID-19?
4) Have you been asked to self-isolate by BC’s Provincial Health Officer, the Communicable Disease Control, or any other governmental health agency?
5) In the last 14 days, have you or anyone you have come into contact with tested positive for COVID-19?
If you answer 'yes' to any of the above questions, please call us immediately as we may need to reschedule your appointment. Please also call 8-1-1 for further medical instructions.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT OUR OFFICE:
A) Please put on your mask or face covering when you enter the building and wear it until you exit.
B) It is very important that you arrive at your scheduled appointment time. In order to ensure physical distancing, your appointment has been specially booked to ensure that no two patients are arriving at the same time.
C) If you are more than 10 minutes late, please call the office as we will likely need to reschedule your appointment.
D) If you are early, please wait outside or in your vehicle until your exact appointment time. At the time of your appointment please proceed up to the office for your appointment.
E) There will be a sign posted on the door with the above screening questions which we will ask you to review once again.
F) If all answers are 'no' please enter the office, sanitize your hands and put on a provided mask.
G) You will then be greeted by your orthodontic assistant, who will ask you to wash your hands at the sink and guide you into the clinic for your appointment.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with these new procedures. Of course, if you have any questions or comments about any of this, please feel free to reach out to us and we would be glad to discuss it in more detail.
