Orthodontic treatment in other words can help to align your bite and teeth while helping to build a beautiful smile – it can also help to improve your physical and psychological health.
The time spent on average wearing braces is between 18-24 months. However, the actual time that you will be required to wear braces will depend on several factors.
Timing of the treatment – Starting treatment before all the adult teeth are in may be beneficial to correct certain orthodontic issues. Sometimes the total treatment time may be longer in these cases, however, the interceptive phase of treatment typically reduces, simplifies, or even eliminates the “braces phase”. Each patient presents a unique case, so let one of our orthodontists recommend the best options available for you.
Severity of the case – The more orthodontic issues that you require correcting, the longer that you will need to wear braces. Treatment times will also vary depending on your body’s ability to recover and respond to the treatment. Since every patient will react and respond in their own way, treatments may take as little as a year for one patient, while another person may take 2 years or more.
Compliance – Probably the most important factor influencing the length of your treatment is how closely you follow the instructions provided to you by your orthodontist. You will definitely make your treatment shorter by consistently taking care of your appliances and wearing elastics when required.
